Bentuk Pola Kalimat Conditional Sentence Type 3

Berikut ini adalah pola kalimat Conditional Sentence Type 3:

Conjunction "IF" + Past Perfect Tense + Past Future Perfect Tense


Disini, conditional sentence tipe ke-3 ini menggunakan 2 tenses, yaitu:

  1. Past Perfect Tense


    Subject + Had + Past Participle

     

  2. Past Future Perfect Tense


    Subject + Would + Have + Past Participle

Contoh:
If you had followed the test, you would have understood all the lessons.
(Jika kamu dulu mengikuti tes itu, kamu mungkin akan memahami semua materinya).

atau,

You would have understood all the lessons if you had followed the test.
(Kamu mungkin akan memahami semua materinya jika kamu dulu mengikuti tes itu.)


Sifat Conditional Sentence Type 3

Conditional Sentence Type 3 uga sama halnya dengan conditional sentence type 2: "mengungkapkan nihilnya suatu kenyataan dimasa lampau dan sekarang". Dengan kata lain, kejadian yang terjadi dimasa lampau tidak mungkin terjadi dan berimbas dimasa sekarang. Jadi, conditional sentence type 3 adalah bentuk pengandaian sejati atau sekedar berandai-andai.

Contoh:

(i) If you hadn't burnt the proposal, I would have submitted it to the manager.
(Jika kamu dulu tidak membakar proposal itu, mungkin saya sudah menyerahkannya pada manager itu).

Faktanya:

You burned the proposal and I didn't submit it to the manager. (0%)

diubah ke bentuk

type 2:

(ii) If you didn't burn the proposal, I would submit it to the manager.

Faktanya:

You burn the proposal and I don't submit it to the manager. (0%)

(iii) If you don't burn the proposal, I will submit it to the manager.

Faktanya:

You burn the proposal and I don't submit it to the manager. (50% :  50%)
